This group was formed by Gilberto Monetti in 1987, involving many different and appreciated musicians. The objective of the SAX TEAM & friends is to re-discover little known repertoires by authors who devoted original music to the Saxophone, as well as transcriptions of preceding Century literature, with the aim of trying to valorize the Saxophone in the area of chamber music. In 1869 E.Berlioz wrote : “ The greatest worth of the sax is in the different beauty of its sound, sometimes serious and calm, other times impassioned, dreamy and melanconico, vague as the faint reverberation of an echo or as receptible murmur of the breeze that crosses the woods; any other tool possesses this mysterious sonority, innovable on the edge of the silence. The SAX TEAM & friends proposes original compositions or trascriptions, Vaudeville, Bella Epoque, Rag Time, Blues, Swing and Etno Jazz, showing many different atmospheres created by such a particular Ensemble. This Ensemble has played many concerts in Italy and abroad. It has recorded for the Italian National Television ( RAI ), and represented Italy at the World Saxophone Festival held at Pesaro ( Italy) in 1992.
