VAUDEVILLE CAFÈ

Vaudeville Cafè

Vaudeville is a project born from the friendship between Gilberto Monetti and Alberto Linari, a desiring partnership to discover a very interesting repertoire ; Music of late Romanticism, Rag time,  Vaudeville,  Belle Epoque, Swing and Etno music not excluding  Contemporary music wiht peculiar characteristics, as well as the first original music written for the Saxophone in the late Nineteenth Century, an during the first years of 1900.

This repertoire is proposed by an instrument possessing a sound similar to the human voice: a tenor sax named C’Melody sax.

The Vaudeville project has two CD’s ( one recorded live) to its name, produced by the ECOSOUND Company.

THE FANTASTIC ‘900

When you enter in contact with something vintage, from the old times, many romantic sensation come to surface. Besides, in the case of antique instruments, the relationship between the hour and the musician becomes almost mystical.

In this recording you will listen to classical piano and vintage saxes from the last century, in particular a Evette Schaeffer – Buffet Crampon C’Melody sax and original Adolphe Sax Tenor. The sound of these two historical instruments is quite different from the modern one, and can be appreciated listening to the program of this CD, which explores different aspect of the nineteenth century music.

These live recordings manage to recreate the magic of a concert, the emphasis of the players and the reaction of the audience.

Our duo has been active for five years and is called VAUDEVILLE CAFÉ, because  of our love for the music of the last century.

In the United States, from 1885, the variety theatre took the name of Vaudeville, a genre which tried to mix musical comedy and cabaret. During our concerts we try to present both Classical and Jazz music, in order to give a more complete idea of this rich musical period.

This is the content of the CD:

Suite Hellenique and Pequena Czarda by the spanish composer P.Iturralde, then two all- consuming song by Astor Piazzolla  Oblivion and Libertango, going back to the romantic era with J.Demersseman Deuxeme Solo, then the Italian: E.Sallustio Studiosolistico, G.Fenati Shadow e P.Alessandrini Nouvelle Vue, the Americans: R.Wiedoeft Manhattan Serenade and Saxofobia, C.Hawkins Picasso, L.Joung Blue Lester.

The program is not presented in a chronologic order, but it reveals the incredible spirit of the last century. Gilberto Monetti
